The LMB Biological Services Group (BSG) maintains advanced facilities to house breeding and experimental rodent colonies. We aim to provide the highest standard of modern transgenic production services and experimental resources to support the future scientific programmes of the LMB.
You will join a dedicated team of approximately 70 staff, the majority of whom are technicians. You will work within a smaller team, in an animal holding room. You will be responsible for ensuring that excellent animal care is provided and that high welfare standards are met. Animal health and welfare are of paramount importance to all staff at the LMB and are essential in achieving valid scientific results.
After you have successfully completed your first 3-months of the probationary period, paid overtime will be available. This will be for one weekend (2 sessions), every month and paid at £114 per session, plus travel costs. A weekend session is approximately 3 hours each day. There are opportunities to work additional paid overtime on weekends and Bank Holidays via a volunteering system.
The role is based on the Babraham Research Campus and there may be occasional travel to our main lab on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
We operate a standard working pattern for full-time staff of 8am – 3.45pm, Monday to Thursday and 8am – 3.30pm on a Friday. However, applications from candidates looking for part-time hours or a job share will be considered. You will be eligible to join our defined benefit pension scheme with an employer contribution of 16%, holiday entitlement of 40.5 days (including bank holidays and privilege days) and a generous employee discount scheme. You will also have access to free on-site parking, sport and social facilities, as well as a salary sacrifice scheme for cycle to work. We are also committed to providing training and development opportunities including support towards role-related qualifications.
