Job Title: Animal Technician

CK Group is seeking a skilled Animal Technician to join their Life Science Service company on a permanent basis, based in Cambridgeshire.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct daily animal husbandry duties, including feeding, watering, cleaning, animal handling, and animal observations as directed by the team leader or buddy.
  • Complete daily monitoring and reporting of the animal unit environment, including temperatures, and the security and suitability of animal housing.
  • Conduct cleaning and maintaining animal rooms, associated areas, and equipment, in accordance with work instructions.
  • Complete all relevant departmental records, including day books, production data reports, and stock availability records.
  • Receive and dispatch goods in/out of the animal facility, using correct sterilization procedures to maintain animal barrier status.
  • Produce, birth, wean, sex, count, and weigh animals.
  • Implement basic animal breeding systems and understand the importance of replacement breeding stock selection criteria.
  • Re-house and group animals in accordance with Home Office guidelines, as directed by the team leader.
Requirements:
  • Level 2 Diploma in Animal Management.
  • Experience in routine manual work that requires attention to detail.
  • Experience in routine animal husbandry.
  • Experience in animal handling of all species onsite.
