Primary duties Site Management

Working pattern 7am to 11 Lunch Break 2pm to 6pm (total 37 hours)

  1. To attend regular planning meetings with the Operations Manager and Headteacher, providing regular reports of planned and emergency maintenance. Support the management of the school's 'maintenance recording system', to ensure works are actioned in a timely manner To ensure that the school's compliance tracker is maintained and actioned as needed to meet all statutory compliance deadlines To plan and monitor and deliver all maintenance works and small building projects, including managing contractors, ensuring that a full and complete site induction is carried out, as well as ensuring that all relevant documentation is in place and distributed as appropriate (H&S policies, method statements, risk assessments, public liability insurance documentation etc) To prepare budgetary quotes for works and small projects as needed To plan routine servicing and maintenance works relating to plumbing and heating To maintain a record of meter readings for all utilities To act as point of contact for day to day management of the cleaning and grounds external contracts To cooperate with any appointed external consultants and contractors in order to ensure the safe delivery of planned building works/projects at the school To ensure the site is kept litter Maintaining clean, safe and secure school premises, which includes buildings and grounds Carrying out minor cleaning, handyperson activities, routine maintenance and refurbishment, and minor repairs Some supervision of school cleaning staff with the contract cleaning company Promoting health and safety around the school All other aspects of site management, such as supervising external contractors, and site use and development planning Carry out duties, such as moving furniture and equipment around the school Maintain the general school premises, furniture and fittings, and report any issues Carry out small repairs and DIY projects Arrange larger repairs and obtain quotes from contractors Advise on site development projects and make recommendations on site use

    School Security

    Be point of contact for the external site security contractor as needed, including out of hours, liaising with the Senior Leadership Team as needed To ensure locking schedules are in place to cover the school day and all lettings and out of hour functions To ensure all CCTV and alarm systems are in place and working The ability to respond to emergencies, including severe weather, affecting the school premises outside of normal hours and form part of the school's emergency response team Check at the end of the day that all windows, doors and gates are locked, lights switched off, and gas and electrical appliances are turned off Set security alarm systems, report any potential security breaches, and respond to any alarms or other call-outs following agreed procedures Carry out regular checks of alarm systems, locks, fire safety appliances, security gates and perimeter fencing, and ensure any necessary repairs are actioned Advise the head of school on all matters relating to school security and safety School Lettings and Events

    To plan for, and be the lead on tasks required in connection with setting up, and moving of, equipment for all school functions. Ensure all lettings and events are communicated within school as appropriate Health and Safety

    To read and research as necessary to have secure knowledge of up to date legislation To communicate all site related health and safety issues to the Operations Manager in an appropriate and timely manner To ensure the Asbestos register is reviewed and maintained in line with current legislation Carry out and record regular health and safety checks, including on legionella risk, play equipment, safety equipment, and any hazards on school premises; report any problems to Deputy head Provide safe access to the school in cold weather conditions Make sure all staff follow health and safety procedures Monitor the work of contractors, ensuring safe working practice and quality of work Ensure annual, quarterly, monthly and weekly testing records are maintained and any required works are processed through relevant procedures To maintain a full register of risk assessments and/or task sheets, relating to site services in order to meet audit requirements To act as point of contact for health and safety visits relating to site issues and prepare action plans and plan of works to address any resulting issues The postholder will need to maintain qualifications relating to the work undertaken, for example, IOSH; COSHH. Training can be provided.

    On occasions there may be a requirement to work outside of the normal daily hours, during an emergency, to meet site management and school needs.

    Post holders should expect to carry out any other duties which may reasonably be expected given the nature of the role or any other reasonable request from the Headteacher to undertake work of a similar level that is not specified in this job description.
