Do you have experience of working with a range of audiences including parents/carers, providers, and children? Are you looking to make a difference in children's lives? We are looking for a Support Officer to work with teams across the local authority, schools, families and childcare providers to assess and expand wraparound childcare provision that is accessible to children and families, including those with SEND.

This is a fixed term contract until March 2025.

About you...

  • Experience of working with children (0 – 5) and/or young people.
  • A sound understanding of Children's safeguarding.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the statutory requirements of the EYFS.
  • Resourceful, caring and a good communicator.
  • Able to use your own initiative whilst sharing your knowledge and expertise.
  • Experience in the appropriate use of ICT, including experience of MS Office and use of email

About the role...

  • To promote and activate a sector-led, sustainable early years' workforce
    through joint practice development which influences leadership thinking, policy and practice so as to have a positive impact on outcomes for all Rutland children.
  • To identify and, where required, commission high quality professional development opportunities to maintain the effectiveness of the early years' sector in self-identification of underperformance, providing challenge where necessary, and to ensure actions undertaken meet the needs of all groups of pupils and are effective in closing achievement gaps, particularly for those groups identified as vulnerable.
  • To promote the Early Education training offer to the sector.
  • To consult with parents/carers, providers, and children about demand for wraparound childcare.
  • To work collaboratively within the local authority and with key external agencies to ensure joined up partnership working to meet individual needs of children and families. This will involve forming relationships between the local authority, local job centres, providers and community representatives.
  • To communicate the Early years and wraparound offer through existing channels to the public, wraparound childcare providers and other key agencies.

The successful applicant for this post will be subject to an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The costs for the DBS are paid by us.

The Wraparound Care Support Officer interview date is on 10th June 2024.
