Job Purpose

The Infrastructure Architect is accountable for the specification, delivery, and assurance of all technology infrastructure, including data centre, network services, telephony, workstation management, servers, storage, and related software. This role is responsible for ensuring availability, integrity, and security for all IT infrastructure in collaboration with the Co-Supply Partner, specifically their Solutions Architect. Working with colleagues across Digital Enablement, the Infrastructure Architect will oversee the Co-Supply Partners deployment of technology for various projects and any technological change impacting the infrastructure. The role demands a hands-on management approach to ensure solution scalability, reliability and efficiency to suit the flexibility required by the organisation. A key focus is required on developing the team's capabilities and ensuring that infrastructure and security roles within the team are aligned with the organisational needs to support the organisation's ongoing transformation.

The Person - Expertise & Experience Experience of successful technical leadership, working as an architect on complex projects and programmes.Ability to design complex technical solutions in an inclusive and participatory manner, to negotiate with and influence other design parties including business users, technical staff, software developers and third-party suppliers.Broad and deep technical knowledge and experience across networking, security and infrastructure.Strong domain expertise of cloud infrastructure, cloud control planes and cloud CLIExperience of designing and managing Azure solutions within the Cloud Adoption Framework (such as the Hub/Spoke Model)Expert knowledge of Microsoft Azure Technologies, as well as technical ability within other cloud domains (i.e., AWS. GCP).Expert knowledge of Microsoft 365 Technologies within the E5 license capability.Knowledge of Identity & Access Management (IAM) practices and solutions including Privileged Identity Management, Authentication policies and Network Security Policies.Job DescriptionKnowledge of email authentication methods (DMARC, DKIM, SPF) and technical ability within email gateway solutions such as Mimecast.Knowledge of Cisco Meraki networking technologies and solutionsCreation of architecture viewpoints and principles, and advocate existing viewpoints and principles throughout the organisationExposure to working with outsourced IT services and collaborating effectively with suppliers.Ability to innovate and think creatively, showing willingness to apply new approaches to solving problems and to learn new methods and technologies.Knowledge and understanding of IT technical design and security within an environment governed by standards and codes of compliance.Experience in designing, implementing and delivering security for cloud native, distributed computing and architectural solutions with a principle of "Secure by Design"Experience of evaluating, designing and migrating on-prem servers and applications to the cloud.Experience with Azure DevOps - deploying Infrastructure using CI/CD pipelines.DesiredExperience of Administering Windows Server and SQL Server.Technical certifications in Microsoft Azure.Familiarity of ITIL Service Management and Project Management concepts.TOGAF qualificationThe Role - Key AccountabilitiesOwns the infrastructure architecture and improvement programme, responsible for delivery to budget and plan, realising opportunities for cost savings and IT service quality improvement.Guide and enable the organisation, partners, and Digital Enablement teams, providing frameworks, architecture and procedures as required.Work to collaboratively set standards for architectural principles and security principles.Provides infrastructure services vision, enables innovation, and seeks to leverage IT trends that can create value consistent with the Woodland Trust's requirements and expectations.Leads the technology infrastructure strategy and its execution, reporting to the Head of Technology Operations InfluenceCommunicates complex issues effectively and concisely, using written and verbal methods, ensuring approach is suited to the relevant audience.Promotes improvements in line with recognised good practice to the co-supply partner and senior IT leaders.
