About this opportunity

The Capital Programme team is responsible for the core delivery of the Council's c.£60m/year Capital Programme developing projects which make a real 'on the ground' difference to our communities, places and people in Westmorland and Furness. On a daily basis the programme develops and maintains new council buildings including care homes, schools, community centres and offices; construct's and maintains highways and cycleways; builds new flood defences and drives the council's decarbonisation programme for its services.

The Programme Assistant role will support the development, delivery and administration of significant projects and programmes within the Capital Programme, Highways and Flood Portfolio to include:

  • The A595 Grizebeck Improvement Scheme
  • The Local Lead Flood Authority Programme
  • The Safer Roads Programme

    We are looking for candidates who can organise and administer programme and project documentation, assist with preparing and administering communications, undertake stakeholder management and assist with the management of small capital projects.

    We hope you are someone who enjoys working as part of a flexible team to deliver high standards of service support and are able to communicate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers to aid project delivery.

    You can expect to work in a high performing team with likeminded individuals. You can also expect accountability and responsibility to help the whole team deliver multi-million-pound projects for Westmorland and Furness Council.
