Why this job matters This role ensures that Technology uses its capex wisely to deliver the Number One Network, which delivers a great customer experience, by leading a team of consultanting analysts who will:

  • Support optimisation of the long-term network architecture – the right network, correctly sized, at lowest cost, delivering the target customer experience (ie quality of service and reliability/availability).
  • Develop and disseminate the right capacity planning policies
  • Provide expert end to end capacity forecasts and optimisation
  • Deliver specialist analysis of service availability The role-holder also ensures that this £300m pa capital budget is correctly allocated, approved by the Networks Investment Board and spent in line with forecasts by managing the Fixed Network CapEx Budget & MTP. What you'll be doing
  • Lead the Network Optimisation team to deliver impactful modelling consultancy into Technology and wider BT (and Openreach where appropriate) to provide great customer experience cost effectively, for both short-term challenges and to optimise the network architecture, long-term. This will include cost/techno-economic modelling of networks, planning policy management, network performance engineering, availability engineering and advanced statistical analysis.
  • Deliver techno-economic modelling to underpin BT's strategic planning of networks over medium and long term, including key analysis to define and underpin MTP budgets (5 year) for the UK fixed network.
  • Ensure UK network capacity plans are fit for purpose and align with business growth forecasts (WELF/GVF/OOF).
  • Lead on agreeing the detailed platform requirements for capex investment in the UK Fixed Core network for the next 18 months, obtain approval for the investment from the Networks Investment Board and ensure investments are deployed to the benefit of BT's customers, its business and in line with forecasts (RCM – Networks Engineering ISA#461)
  • Sign-off work for Openreach via BT Group Finance (RCM – Architecture ISA#456)
