Vella Recruitment are working with a leading specialist Economic Development Consultancy in London.


Our client provides cutting-edge, best-in-class, analysis to support our clients in understanding the social and economic impacts of these innovative and exciting projects. You will have exposure to a variety of projects and big-name clients from multinationals and government departments to trade bodies.


Our client is looking for bright experienced hires (with at least two years’ experience from a related field, or bright individuals looking for a career change), to join their friendly and intellectually curious team.


This exciting role will involve:


Project work:

• Technical, quantitative work

• Qualitative background research and reading

• Report writing and client liaison

• Developing project methodologies

• Undertaking innovative research in the field of economic and social impact

• Writing proposals and helping drive new work to the business


Management:

• Managing (typically) four to six projects at a given time, ensuring each deadline is met and ensuring that the work is to the highest quality

• Manage one to two consultants on each project, including setting clear internal deadlines, providing clear and constructive training on technical skills, and ensuring staff well-being.

• Managing client relationships and relationships with the wider project team (such as other consultancies)

• Contributing to senior team meetings with regards staff well-being, staff utilisation, company initiatives and the wider business strategy


The nature of the company means that the role can be adapted to your experience, giving you both the flexibility and support to progress in your role.


All of our client's consultants are encouraged to spend a certain number of days per year doing research into new areas, both to follow their interests and to innovate within the company’s business areas.

Requirements


Essential:

• 2:1 or 1st class degree (or equivalent) in a numerate or social science degree, such as Economics, Mathematics, PPE, Politics, Real Estate, Urban Development or Geography

• Excellent research and analysis skills

• Strong command of written and spoken English

• Communication skills and commercial awareness

• Ability to prioritise and manage your own workload with support from senior team members


Desired:

• Experience in development and/or transport industries

• Experience managing staff, stakeholders and projects (ideally in a consultancy)

• Experience with formal assessment guidance - such as the HM Treasury Green Book, WebTag and EIA guidance – and business case writing

• Competence with statistical software (such as R or GIS)
