Privacy Helper is the data protection brand of DAMM Solutions Group Ltd. Formed in January 2017, our Privacy Team has seen strong growth over the last two years and now boasts some of the most skilled and experienced privacy professionals in the industry.

As a Data Protection & Privacy Consultancy we carry out a range of engagements across multiple sectors – both in the UK and internationally. Some of our typical engagements include: Conducting Data Protection GAP Analysis, Remediation Work, Outsourced DPO Services, and adhoc tasks such as DPIA’s, responding to DSARs and data breaches, staff training and Policy / Document writing.


At the start of this year, we set ourselves ambitious expansion plans that will dictate the path of the business over the next 5 and 10 years respectively. As part of this latest round of expansion, and following multiple client wins we are looking for a Data Protection Consultant to join the team.


The candidate

To ensure a good fit with our company ethos, you should have a pragmatic and risk- based approach to data protection, being able to identify the boundaries of risk for different clients is imperative. We have a busy team – while we support each other on daily tasks, you will be required to work independently and manage your own time.


We firmly believe that clients buy from people, so you will need to develop a strong relationship with the clients you are assigned to – confident communication and excellent account management skills are essential to maximise the opportunities with the clients you support.


Duties


This is a varied role with a broad remit. Typically, your duties will include:

  • Inform, advise and issue recommendations to the Client regarding compliance with data protection laws including GDPR, PECR and FOI.
  • Review and develop Client policies and guidelines with respect to data protection.
  • Identification of business processes and systems that relate to personal data and are deemed in-scope for GDPR.
  • Review commercial agreements and contracts, including Data Processing agreements with data processors.
  • Manage escalated queries including Subject Access Requests and Data Breach incidents, from all parts of the business, bringing them to resolution by developing effective solutions.
  • Deliver and roll out a programme of staff awareness training to achieve compliance and foster a culture of data privacy within the organisation.
  • Develop communications strategy in line with Client’s strategy to engage with the key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Clients on a range of data protection documentation including Data Protection Impact Assessments, ROPA’s Legitimate Interest Assessments and Policy drafting.
  • Represent the Client when liaising with Supervisory Authorities in the event of data protection complaints and data breach notifications;
  • Promote best practices and act as a contact point for data protection queries.


Requirements

  • Strong customer centric and account management approach is critical for this role.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a data protection role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK data protection law in particular as relates to the Data Protection Principles.
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering data protection work including responding to rights requests, personal data breaches and leading on Data Protection Impact Assessments.
  • Demonstrable experience in communicating data protection concepts to senior management teams.
  • Able to travel across the UK or Europe as required (subject to agreed travel expenses and an agreed itinerary.)


Desirable


  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent industry qualification.
  • Knowledge of key cyber security concepts.
