We are working with one of the UK’s largest private development companies. They build approximately 1,200 homes a year from its three regional offices It has ambitions to increase this to 1,600 homes over the next five years.
We are looking for a Quality Inspector to join the team in the North West. This critical role involves ensuring that every home they build meets the high standards and customer expectations that underpin their commitment to excellence. Reporting directly to the Head of Customer Care and working closely with the Construction Director and Sales Director, the Quality Inspector will be instrumental in driving continuous improvements across sales and construction processes.
As a Quality Inspector, you will meticulously inspect and verify every detail of their homes, from the foundations to the finishing touches, ensuring each one meets the rigorous standards before legal completion. You will benchmark each home both externally and internally, certifying that they align with their coveted HBF 5* accreditation. Your efforts will help maintain and enhance their reputation as a top-tier builder, ensuring their homes consistently deliver an outstanding customer experience.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a similar role, possess expertise with COINS software, and excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone who thrives under pressure and can consistently deliver high-quality results.
Key responsibilities:
- Effectively manage your schedule to ensure all homes are inspected in line with their rigorous quality checklist procedures.
- Support the achievement of legal completions by ensuring inspections are conducted in accordance with our forecasted completion dates.
- Carry out Home Ready Inspections and Ready for Occupation Inspections, prioritising developments as needed, while maintaining strong relationships with the site and sales teams.
- Update COINS to keep accurate records, supporting a seamless customer journey.
- Collaborate with other stakeholders within the business to ensure inspection results are recorded and resolved within the appropriate timeframes.
- Visit and liaise with customers and site teams to ensure the timely resolution of agreed defects.
- Attend development and contractor meetings, sharing best practices and working closely with all departments.
- Follow up with contractors to address recurring defects as they arise.
- Manage customer complaints efficiently.
- Alongside the customer care team, oversee the 2-4-6-8 process at developments nearing completion, especially when there is no longer a construction or sales presence on-site.
- Ensure compliance with the New Homes Quality Code.
- Attend weekly build and sales meetings at Head Office.
- Prepare a monthly report for inclusion in the Board report pack.
- Provide periodic training for Sales Executives and Site Managers.
Desirable skills and experience:
- Previous experience in the house building industry
- Proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and the ability to adapt to new systems

- HBF 5* knowledge

- Ability to self-motivate and work on own as well as part of a team

- Exceptional communication skills, enabling effective liaison with customers, contractors, and Wain Homes personnel.
- Knowledge of COINS and/or experience of this would be an advantage
