Main Purpose of the Job:

To ensure that shift production targets are achieved safely and efficiently, in compliance with company and regulatory standards (Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety), as well as industry accreditations (BRC and FEMAS)


Operational:

- Safely operate all plant processes within set parameters to meet production targets in volume, quality, and efficiency.

- Ensure routine sampling and testing of production processes are carried out and recorded as required.

- Complete assigned safety and preventative maintenance checks on schedule.

- Perform general housekeeping and cleaning of process areas.

- Assist Maintenance Technicians during plant failures.


Compliance (Regulatory and Company):

- Comply with all Health and Safety responsibilities as defined in the company’s Health and Safety policy.

- Adhere to company procedures and methods.

- Maintain quality, food, and feed safety standards as per company procedures, ensuring documentation is accurate and non-conformities are reported.

- Ensure production waste is moved to designated disposal locations in a timely manner.

- Keep production areas clean and tidy.

- Collaborate with the site team to highlight opportunities for operational and business improvements.


Reporting:

- Record and report process data, e.g., the Daily Production Spreadsheet.

- Inform the Lead Technician of any issues that require further investigation.

- Submit Safety Issue Reports.


Qualifications / Skills:

Essential:

- Knowledge and understanding of SCADA, Operator Interface control systems, and PLC-based plant operations.

- Minimum of 5 High School O Levels (C- Grade), with at least 1 in Maths or Physics/Chemistry (or equivalent).


Desirable:

- Education in Process, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (City & Guilds, Higher National Certificate level, or above).


Personal Attributes:

- Proactive in driving and delivering key actions.

- Ability to work effectively within a team and on your own initiative.

- Ability to meet tight deadlines.

- Capable of performing in a challenging production environment with sufficient self-motivation to add value to the business.

- Physically capable of working in a production environment, including stairs, rung ladders, and high-level work areas.

- "Safe by Nature" with a demonstrated low/no accident work history
