United Kingdom Peaceful Change initiative Full time

Peaceful Change initiative

Fundraising Trustee

About Us: The Peaceful Change Initiative (PCi), an international London-based charity, is a leader in peacebuilding across Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. We are highly respected for our work in numerous countries including Libya, where we are the largest peacebuilder.  We are a team of over 40 deeply committed professionals, including internationally-recognised specialists. Our turnover of £5 million is built through strong relationships with donors, including: the UK, the EU, the UN, Switzerland, Germany, and the Netherlands. PCi also provides consulting services to an array of both government and non-government groups.

Our Fundraising framework: The focal point of our fundraising is a monthly virtual meeting of the CEO, the Chairman, the Program Development Director and the Fundraising Trustee. At this meeting, the previous action items are reviewed, new developments are discussed, and new action items are created. The scope of the meeting includes discussing engagement strategies for government and private sector donors and exploring new funding opportunities for the organisation. Naturally, there is considerable staff work and information exchange between meetings.

Key Goals: Despite the growth of violent conflict around the world, funding from government and private sources has not kept pace. While PCi has excellent relations with government donors, we now seek support from an experienced professional to help us diversify our funding base by:

  1. securing increased funding from private foundations which we have identified, and
  2. increasing donations from High-Net-Worth-Indivduals (HNWIs).

Seeking a Fundraising Professional: The ideal candidate would bring:

  • Successful experience in engaging with private foundations and/or HNWIs.
  • Skills in coaching and team collaboration on a project-by-project basis.
  • Willingness to initiate and support engagement with selected donors.
  • Willingness to provide some limited coaching to fellow trustees on how to mobilise their knowledge and networks in support of fundraising

Insight into the peacebuilding sector and board governance would be a plus.

Your Role and Time Commitment: As a trustee, you will play a pivotal role in steering our fundraising strategy and supporting our engagement with donors. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Attending the monthly Fundraising Committee meetings, lasting about one hour.
  • Participating in two regular and the occasional ad-hoc board meetings yearly via MS Teams, lasting two to three hours each.
  • Making contact with selected donors.
  • Attending one-hour monthly operations briefings via MS Teams to stay familiar with PCi’s on-the-ground work (optional)

What We Offer:

  • Becoming an integral part of a well-respected organisation making a significant impact in global peacebuilding.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and network expansion.
  • Reimbursement for travel expenses for face-to-face meetings.

Join us at the Peaceful Change Initiative, where your expertise can drive change and foster peace in some of the world's most challenging regions.
