We are seeking a kind individual who wants to work in partnership with older people living independently to support them to live fulfilled and meaningful lives.
Salary: Circa £27.5k FTE
Location: Ellis David Almshouses, Duppas Hill Terrace, Croydon CR0 4BT
Job Type: Full or Part time considered, 22.5 hr/wk minimum, 37.5 hr/wk maximum
Work Type: In office/onsite
Background
Our organisation and its affiliated charity Croydon Relief in Need (CRiN), operate within the diverse boroughs of Croydon and Merton. We provide accommodation to older people who are supported to live independently with a focus on person-centred, dynamic and holistic support. CRiN allocates grants of over £200k each year to Croydon voluntary sector. Our work is funded by a portfolio of investments and income from our almshouses.
Historically we have focussed primarily on our residents, and following a strategy development process we will shortly be publishing our 2024-2028 Strategy which is ambitious and challenging. It includes the aim of serving the London Borough of Croydon more widely than we currently do and embedding impact, and the post-holder will be an important part of the shaping and delivery of our aspirations.
Purpose of the post
· To support the Wellbeing Team Lead and Wellbeing & Projects Manager to manage the day to day running of the Almshouses
· To facilitate residents to live independently for as long as possible embracing a person-centred, dynamic, holistic approach
Main duties and responsibilities
- Work with residents to encourage and support independence around their daily lives, signposting where appropriate
- Be available and visible to all residents, responding to and sometimes initiating conversations, whilst maintaining boundaries
- Work in partnership with external agencies to support and advocate for our residents
- Help plan, organise and deliver a programme which will enrich the internal community and build and maintain relationships with the external community
- Work in partnership with residents, and where appropriate relatives or next of kin, to shape and achieve Wellbeing Plans, reviewing regularly and updating when required
- To be on call as part of a rota that meets the needs of the Wellbeing Team and during some holiday periods
Person specification
Desirable Experience:
· Working in a health and/or social care environment, preferably with older people
· Following administrative procedures
Skills:
· Ability to work effectively as a team member
· Ability to prioritise a busy workload and work on own initiative
· Ability to think proactively and outside the box
· Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with a range of internal and external stakeholders
· Ability to develop and maintain long-term positive relationships
· Good written and oral communication skills
