Credit Controller 📍 Falmouth, Cornwall (on-site) 💰 £35,000 – £45,000 per annum, depending on experience 🕒 Full-time, PermanentA leading wholesale food distributor in the South West is seeking an experienced Credit Controller to take ownership of their credit control function, drive process improvements, and help bring structure to a growing B2B ledger.Following a recent merger and continued growth, they are looking for someone with the confidence and commercial understanding to step in, take the reins, and create lasting change within a high-volume, fast-paced finance team.The OpportunityThis is a newly shaped position, reporting to the Finance Director and working alongside a dedicated Sales Ledger team of five. The successful candidate will lead the credit control operations, introduce and refine systems, and manage customer relationships to reduce aged debt and improve cashflow.It is an ideal role for someone with a hands-on approach who thrives in an evolving environment. Someone who has been through the credit control trenches and knows how to bring order to a complex ledger.Key ResponsibilitiesTake full ownership of the credit control function, systems, and daily operationsManage a B2B customer base of 2,500–3,500 accountsContact customers by phone and email to chase payments, resolve queries, and build strong relationshipsIdentify high-risk accounts and manage the escalation process through to legal proceedings if requiredReduce aged debt and improve DSO through structured and persistent credit managementWork with the Sales Ledger team to embed consistent credit control practicesProvide regular cash collection and aged debt reporting to senior finance leadershipSupport training and development within the teamWhat They’re Looking ForPrevious experience in a senior credit control role, ideally within a B2B environmentExperience managing large ledgers (2,500+ accounts)Strong understanding of credit risk, customer management, and legal collection processesConfident communicator, able to manage challenging conversations with diplomacy and professionalismExperience improving or implementing credit control systems and proceduresStrong Excel skillsSelf-motivated, organised, and resilient under pressureApply today for immediate consideration
