Role title: Senior Leader and Maths Teacher
Reports to: Executive Headteacher
Salary: from £40,000, based on experience
The role:
- To provide outstanding leadership across the whole school, so that teaching and learning is consistently outstanding.
- To ensure that all young people make at least the expected progress, and that ambitious targets for student performance are met in all Key Stages.
- To continue to develop an innovative and progressive curriculum within the Maths faculty.
- To robustly manage the performance of teachers and support staff, so that ambitious targets are met and there is clear evidence of progression.
Key Responsibilities:
- To work closely with the Executive Headteacher, headteacher and other teachers, tutors and support staff, in order to achieve high standards of student behaviour, engagement and achievement.
- To lead on the operational and day-to-day management of the teaching programs.
- To line-manage other teachers and support staff, having an understanding of the staff as ‘individuals’ and knowing their strengths, areas for improvement and future ambitions.
- To work with other school staff to assess and update student needs and progress, working towards successful re-integration into mainstream and/or positive post-16 pathways.
- To establish strong links with other schools, agencies and settings to ensure appropriate and effective curriculum delivery.
- To assist in the Safeguarding of the young people who attend Edstart Schools, undertaking relevant training where necessary.
Performance expectations:
- Supporting and coaching staff, developing and extending their pedagogic repertoire and necessary skill sets to perform their roles.
- Ensuring that their own lessons consistently model best practice.
- Further developing the team culture of commitment to high expectations, achievement and personal learning and development, characterised by an obvious belief in the value and strengths of all our pupils.
- Maintaining strong partnerships with parents.
- Supporting the appropriate use of formative assessment practices and ongoing diagnostic assessments, and the use of data from assessments to drive continuous improvement of teaching and learning.
- Undertaking the main professional duties of a teacher as set out in the Teacher Standards.
