Seeking technically strong quantitative strategists to sit alongside originators and key sales people at the forefront of a brand new desk, within highly successful, quantamental commodities hedge fund.


The Fund

  • One of the most successful commodities businesses to date, a fact which can be accredited to its use of computer-driven approach and rigorous scientific research.
  • Comprises a combination of systematic and fundamental businesses, naturally designating high commercial impact.
  • Trading in a range of areas, spanning weather derivatives to natural gas & power.
  • Driven by some of the most sophisticated alternative data sets the domain has seen.


The Role

  • Sat directly with salespeople and originators, opportunity to see how your projects directly impact PnL- become a real partner in the business.
  • Desk is a new build with the financial backing of an already successful business: opportunity to work with exceptional people / tools and make your long-term mark on a new desk.
  • Desk aligned projects but with a highly technical slant- see below.
  • End-to-end oversight of quantitative model R&D. (Data sourcing, prototyping, documentation, productionisation, scaling).
  • Research tooling in Python.
  • Pricing of new instruments. Contribution to structured power transactions.


Requirements

  • 5-12 years of experience in quantitative strategist role or equivalent. (Quantitative Developer, Desk Strategist, Pricing / Modelling Quant).
  • Python expertise.
  • Experience with risk engines and pricing systems.
  • Commodities experience. (Power & gas experience highly desirable.)
  • Appetite to move into a commercial role: able to articulate the technical challenges of your previous projects, as much as the impact they had on business.
