Who we are :

We’re Policy Expert, a Personal Lines insurance provider and we’re on a mission to shake up the personal insurance industry. We feel that insurers have under-served customers for too long with confusing policies, expensive renewals, and frustrating claims processes. It is time to put customers first

Since we formed in 2011, we’ve been using breakthrough thinking and proprietary tech to provide insurance that’s clear, fair and great value. And people like what we do. So much so that we now have well over one million customers, driven by our double-digit growth. We also take great pride in having been the UK’s No.1-rated home insurance provider for 9 years.

We have big aspirations. Our ‘North Star’ is ‘To be the most successful insurance disruptor people want to stay with for life’. As we grow, we plan on continuing to challenge the norms of an insurance industry whose reputation for customer trust is low, where switching between providers is high and insurance cover is often seen as a costly ‘grudge purchase’.

We aim to build longer and deeper relationships with our customers and to help them see insurance as being a help, not a hindrance.

The role and what you'll be doing :

We’re committed to ensuring that our customers’ data is protected and that our work complies with data protection legislation. We’re seeking a data protection officer to help our management of potentially sensitive information, conduct regular internal security audits, and serve as the main point of contact between the business and data protection authorities.

You will monitor internal compliance, inform, and advise on our data protection obligations, provide advice regarding Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and act as a contact point for data subjects and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Key Responsibilities: -

· Provide expert advice and educate our colleagues on important data compliance requirements.

· Identify and evaluate the data processing activities within the business.

· Collaborate with key stakeholders to draft new and amend existing internal data protection policies, guidelines, and procedures.

· Implementing measures and a privacy governance framework to manage data use in compliance with the GDPR, including developing templates for data collection, assisting with data mapping, and vendor management reviews.

· Conduct audits to ensure compliance and to address potential issues.

· Maintain records of all data processing activities of the company

· Serve as point of contact for data protection authorities.

· Monitor our ongoing ability to remain data compliant.

· Monitor data management procedures and compliance within the business.

· Participate in meetings with managers to ensure privacy by design at all levels.

· Maintain records of processing operations.

· Ensure we address all queries from data subjects within legal timeframes (e.g. delete their information from our databases).

· Liaise with other organizations that process data on our behalf.

· Advise and consult with senior leaders on data security laws.

· Offer consultation on how to deal with privacy breaches.

· Arrange for training on GDPR compliance for colleagues.
