England, United Kingdom Nationwide Building Society Full time

Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager to join the Control Testing Team within the Chief Controls Office, reporting into the Head of Control Testing.

As a Senior Manager in the First Line Control Testing Team, you will lead a team of Managers and Consultants in assessing the design and operational effectiveness of critical controls, providing assurance that they mitigate the risks faced by the Society.

As a central part of the First Line of defence, our vision is to be recognised as a trusted partner to our stakeholders and to support the development of a strong risk culture. You will work with senior stakeholders and 3LoD peers to agree control testing plans for your portfolio of process and policy areas, before leading your team to deliver to the highest standards in accordance with our defined methodology. Where enhancements in the control environment are identified, you will work with Process and Control Owners to ensure they understand what is needed and the value these improvements bring, and your team will validate any remedial activity undertaken to determine if it fully mitigates the risk and is sustainable in its operation.

Alongside the main testing elements of your role, you will also have the opportunity to lead and support a variety of initiatives within the team and across the wider Society to help deliver our culture of continuous improvement. As a Line Manager you will coach and develop Managers and Consultants within the team to help them achieve their potential.

This role is within the Chief Operating Office (COO), which is more than just IT - it's the engine that drives Nationwide's transformation into a modern mutual, overseeing day-to-day operations while focusing on delivering against our long-term goals as a Society.

The Controls Testing Team, who are part of the Chief Controls Office within COO, are responsible for planning and delivering Society-wide comprehensive controls testing of the critical controls which underpin Nationwide’s financial and non-financial risk policies.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon, Bournemouth or Northampton office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

What makes us different

Nationwide is the world’s largest building society. With over 15 million customers, we have a relationship with almost a quarter of the UK’s population. We’ve got the scale to compete with the big banks, but we’re not a bank.

As a building society, we’re owned by our members – that’s our customers who have their current account, mortgage or savings with us. It means we can do things differently to deliver our Purpose – Banking – but fairer, more rewarding, and for the good of society.

When you work at Nationwide, you can experience that difference for yourself. You’ll be part of a high-performing, purpose-driven organisation that offers rewarding career experiences and a highly competitive range of benefits to match. You’ll also be joining us at an important time as we seek to reach more and more people in the UK. We want everyone in the UK to know that they don’t have to bank with a bank. They can choose a modern mutual instead.
