Primary Purpose of the Position


Charles Austen Pumps is seeking an experience Manufacturing Engineer with both technical and problem-solving experience, within a specialised electro-mechanical assembly & test environment. This role primarily supports the production of a range of standard and specialist pump assemblies and requires the ability to lead the development of new and existing manufacturing processes.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and control of jigs & fixtures for manual, semi-auto and fully auto assembly.
  • Preparation/updating of new/existing manufacturing process documentation (SOP’s) and associated tooling required for product manufacture.
  • Implement, Control and Management of ECR’s, NPIV’s, and SOPs.
  • Continuously work to reduce the levels of process scrap and rework through improved workflow techniques based on root cause analysis data (ideally 8D problem solving technique).
  • Identifying bottlenecks throughout production and implementing solutions to these.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Experienced in implementing modern manufacturing methods (Six sigma, Lean Manufacturing), and effectively applying them to reduce lead times and subsequently improve quality, on-time delivery and cost to the customer.
  • Skilled in CAD, with a good working knowledge of Solidworks and PDM preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems – preferably Sage 200 - for generation and management of production BOM’s on ERP system.
  • Works within company guidelines and contributes to their development, the objective being to maximise company efficiency whilst meeting customer requirements.
  • Promote the company Health and Safety policy and practices in all areas of the working environment.
  • Proven experience within an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding and experience in a manufacturing/process driven environment ideal.
  • Quality focused.
  • Good level of knowledge for Microsoft Office packages.
  • Excellent time management and task prioritisation skills are essential with the ability to juggle various tasks
  • Experience in ATE (Automated test equipment) is desired, but not essential.
  • Experience working with Electronics/Programming Data Acquisition is desirable.
  •  


Salary - £35,000 to £43,000 dependent upon experience

Hours - 7.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday, 7.30am to 12.30pm, Friday.

Yearly pay increase and bonus.

30 days holiday (includes Bank Holidays)
