Commit is a global technology services company with a rapidly expanding footprint in the UK. As an AWS Premier Tier services partner with over 700 in-house engineers, we are looking to continue growing in EMEA by adding a Head of Migrations to lead our delivery team globally for customers looking to migrate to AWS.

This is not a UK only position You will be prioritizing the delivery of complex migrations across the UK and North America. The right candidate will have led dozens of Migrations across multiple geos and have experience with migrating from both on-prem and hybrid cloud environments. While Commit has experience ranging from software development, DevOps, Cyber, Data, GenAI and much more, our goal is to hire a specialist to perfect the delivery of our growing Migrations pipeline to help our customers build secure and scalable solutions on AWS.

Responsibilities:

Solution Design

  • Collaborate with prospects and clients to understand their business needs, technical requirements, existing architecture, and drivers for migration to AWS.
  • Based on these, design and architect a target AWS environment that aligns with the Well Architected Framework and industry best practices around operations and security.
  • Prepare migration plans including project & resource plans, scope of work, and level of effort estimates. Work closely with sales and services executives to tailor and implement migration go-to-market strategies.
  1. Work closely with delivery teams to develop and implement migration delivery guides ensuring alignment with global objectives.
  2. Client Engagement: Engage with prospects and clients in pre-sales and post-sales activities, including requirements gathering, solution presentations, and technical discussions. Build strong relationships with clients, understanding their business challenges, and providing solutions to meet their needs.
  3. Technical Expertise: Demonstrate expertise in AWS services, architectures, and solutions. Keep up to date with the latest AWS technologies, trends, and best practices. Provide technical guidance and recommendations to clients and internal teams on leveraging AWS services effectively.
  4. Security and Compliance: Design and implement solutions that adhere to industry-standard security practices and compliance requirements. Assess and mitigate potential security risks, recommending and implementing appropriate security measures to protect clients' data and systems.
  5. Documentation and Training: Create and maintain technical documentation, including solution architecture diagrams, deployment guides, and best practice documents.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 10+ years of experience with complex customer production environments.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud services, with a focus on AWS migration and modernization.
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a Delivery Manager
  • Strong understanding of AWS services, tools, and best practices for migration and modernization. Including but not limited to: AWS Migration Hub, AWS Application Discovery Service, AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), AWS Server Migration Service (SMS), AWS Control Tower, AWS Landing Zone, AWS Well-Architected Framework, AWS CloudFormation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, AWS DevOps tools and practices.
  • Solid understanding of AWS programs (MAP, WAFR, POC) and experience building funding calculators
  • Strong understanding of data services on AWS including database, data lake/warehouse, and object storage; strong understanding of data migration methods
  • Expert level experience with AWS Control Tower and account strategies
  • Practiced with SSH, HTTPS, Certs, Encryption protocols and implementation
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing AWS solutions, including a strong understanding of AWS services, such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, VPN, Network Segmentation, Security Groups, ELB, and ASG
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional level certification is strongly preferred; Security and Data specialties are a bonus
  • Demonstrated experience in solution design, architecture, and deployment of scalable and secure cloud-based solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts, security best practices, and cloud infrastructure architecture.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients, technical teams, and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously
