Petroineos comprises trading and refining joint ventures between PetroChina International (London) Company Limited and INEOS. Established in 2011, Petroineos is one of Europe’s leading International Integrated Energy Trading Companies.


In addition to third-party trading, Petroineos Trading's key functions include the supply of Crude Oil to Petroineos and PetroChina refineries and the arrangement of the sale and distribution of the various products that are produced from the refineries. Products traded by Petroineos include both Crude and Refined Oil Products.


The Accounting and Reporting Manager plays a key role within the Finance Department, contributing fully to the coordination among front, middle and back office (i.e. trading dept., risk control, legal, compliance, shipping and other back office) in relation to financial decisions within the organisation.


The successful candidate will build and strengthen relationships not only with Front and Middle office teams, but also with other teams within the Finance Department. A key part of this role will be to review and monitor performance of the Financial Reporting and Analysis function, employing and improving key performance indicators to measure performance and identify areas for improvement.


Responsibilities


  • Set goals for the team and ensure all staff have performance contracts that align with Finance and team goals
  • Managing all aspects of the month end close process, including the pre month forecasting, the close itself and subsequent review and validation activities
  • Managing all aspects of the annual audit process, ensuring timely completion and filing
  • Develop, improve and implement the control procedures and processes across the FR&A function. Maintain and strengthen the Financial Reporting and Analysis control structure to ensure compliant operations while upgrading the service offering
  • Ensure that the core accounting package (SAP) remains up to date and is developed to ensure efficient processes
  • To support the annual budgetary process
  • Actively identify system and/or process opportunities to streamline activity to drive efficiency without compromising control. Conduct the leading and management of the implementation of such enhancements be they to ETRM, SAP or other FR&A related system
  • To own the company Accounting Policy, ensuring the team have a good understanding of this and that stakeholders are aware and engaged with key points


Person Requirements


  • Proven demonstrable experience in a similar role in an energy or commodities trading environment, with a portion of that in line management
  • In-depth understanding of FRS
  • Degree in Finance/Banking/Commercial/Maritime Studies or equivalent
  • Relevant professional accounting qualification preferred

  • Excellent teamworking, networking, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong system skills and knowledge are essential


The successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK by the start of their employment.
