About the company

A global London-based Insurance company, with a largely diverse and talented engineering team is going through an exciting period of growth after a recent round of funding. They are looking for a mid-senior level Head of Engineering to accompany the Product management team in implementing new technologies, building reliable infrastructure, and improving platform functionality.


About the role

Working directly with the CTO, Head of Architecture, and Lead Engineers you will guide the company’s technology direction, planning and implementing tested, high-quality features in the production system.

With a hands-on approach, you will manage a small full-stack engineering team able to demonstrate, review code and delegate to the wider team to improve the codebase. You will research and implement new technologies to help improve infrastructure ensuring a better platform experience for the engineering teams. Aiming to double your team size in 2024, you will be pivotal in the hiring process.


Role Requirements

  • Experience working in AWS Lambda (AWS CDK would be a plus)
  • Knowledge of AWS serverless technologies to deploy and monitor (Lambda, SQS, etc)
  • Strong proficiency with TypeScript, NodeJS
  • Experienced in relational database management and maintenance with (PostgreSQL)
  • Hands-on leadership skills, writing code, analysing performance and goal setting
  • A foundation in DevOps practices, understanding CI/CD pipelines and IaC
  • Some Front-End experience (React)
  • Having worked in a fast-paced Agile development environment


Salary upto £120,000 plus benefits
