They eliminate the attackers primary target – the password - by leveraging their unique technology in replacing passwords with a single cryptographic digital identity that is robustly protected and the user’s biometric input. It allows users to access their systems simply and securely without ever needing to know or use a password.

About the Role

We are looking for a Java software engineer responsible for the development and maintenance of our core server product. Your primary focus will be development of Java applications and their integration with back-end services and mobile devices. You will be working alongside other engineers and developers working on different layers of the infrastructure. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and the creation of quality products is essential. This development focuses on security and backend communication so you will need to have a good understanding of network protocols and PKI.


Responsibilities

• Designing and developing software for the Core Server platform.

• To ensure that developed software meets the performance, quality, and responsiveness requirements.

• To develop software using secure techniques, using industry accepted security standards and following good practice and guidelines form organisations such as OWASP

• To collaborate with the technical team to define, design, and release new features.

• Identify and correct bottlenecks and potential software bugs.

• To maintain code quality, organization.

• To contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle.

• To be able to write well designed, testable, commented & efficient code.

• To ensure software designs are in compliance with specifications.

• Prepare and produce releases of software components.

• Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review.


Skills

•Computer Science or related degree or a proven track record in industry

• Solid understanding of Java, preferably Java 17.

• Knowledge of designing scalable server-side web applications, architecture patterns, and best practices.

Experience of working with Spring, Spring MVC and Spring Data would be a significant advantage

Knowledge of one major relational database

• Strong OOP skills and SOLID principles.

• Experience working with RESTful APIs.

• Good practices with UI/UX standards.

• Experience with performance and memory tuning with tools.

• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (such as Git).

• Working knowledge of PKI, Cryptography, OpenSSL, and crypto systems.


Personal Skills

• Minimum of 3 years Java development experience within an enterprise software organisation.

• A developer who is passionate about what they do and take pride in the work they deliver.

• A developer that is focused on the deliverable with a keen eye for detail.

• A proven track record of working within technology teams either within office settings or remotely.

• Strong belief in own personal development and ability to promote personal development to team members.

• An innovator, a self-starter who can take the initiative for the benefit of our customers and the business.

• A team player, someone who can work within the technical team and also with sales, marketing and operational teams.

• Ability to use a pragmatic approach to solve an issue on a win-win basis.

• Ability to work under pressure effectively.


Desirable Skills

• Knowledge and experience in working either within highly regulated sectors such as Financial services or working with Financial Services organisations.

• Experience in working within a start-up environment where on occasion, tasks may be allocated that may not fit within the core role description.

• Experience in dealing with customers.

• Knowledge surrounding authentication protocols (Such as Kerberos and Mutual TLS).
