About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic Head of Supply Chain & Manufacturing to join our rapidly expanding CleanTech startup based in Reading, UK. As part of our team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our company by managing our supply chain effectively. You will serve as a key liaison between our external electronics and mechanical manufacturing partners and the company, ensuring seamless coordination and communication.


The role is based in our Reading office, with the ability to work remotely up to 2 days per week.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Demand Planning: Utilise the forecasted demand for products and components, ensuring adequate inventory levels to meet customer needs while minimising excess stock.


  • Supply Chain Management: Oversee all aspects of the supply chain, including maintaining the Approved Vendor Listing (AVL) and managing relationships with suppliers.


  • Manufacturing planning: Overseeing the relationship with our contract manufacturing partners ensuring proper process control, well maintained delivery schedules and quality control.


  • Purchasing Activities: Handle procurement activities, including obtaining quotes, raising purchase orders, and monitoring lead times for component stock.


  • Supplier Development: Identify new suppliers and alternative providers, negotiating pricing to ensure cost-effectiveness, development and compliance to our supplier quality manual.


  • Bill of Materials (BOM) Management: Work closely with Engineering to update and maintain the BOM for all products, ensuring accuracy and cost efficiency.


  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with testing and assembly standards by third-party providers, monitoring and reporting on product quality.


  • Stock Control: Manage stock inventory, including recording, and maintaining accurate stock levels. Collaborate with the Operations team on stock counting and control processes.


  • Order Fulfilment Support: Provide assistance to the Operations team as needed to ensure timely and accurate order fulfilment.


  • Resource planning system development: Develop and implement an ERP/MRP system to manage stock from production to delivery.


  • Reporting and KPI Analysis: Prepare ad hoc reports and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and optimise supply chain performance.



Essential Skills:


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external partners.


  • Experience in procurement and supply chain management for hardware / electrical components with layered bills of materials, preferably within high-tech manufacturing industries.


  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.


  • Proactive self-starter with a strong initiative to drive continuous improvement.


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.



Desirable Skills:


  • Experience using an ERP system for inventory management and procurement processes, ideally Cin7 or similar


  • A keen interest in the energy sector and commitment to achieving Net Zero goals.
