The position


This is a vital position within our expanding organisation, working collaboratively with the Commercial Director to provide technical support and advice to our customer base within the UK and potentially through our overseas channels. In summary, you will provide the following.


You will be primarily assisting new and existing UK customers and partners, ensuring optimal use of HistoCyte’s products. You will promote the use of additional HistoCyte control materials within existing accounts and support the commercial team with new business opportunities.


This role means working collaboratively with the wider HistoCyte teams in QC and R&D to improve our services and products.


As part of the job you will attend regular national meetings with customers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions. There will also be the opportunity to attend international meetings.


It is a full-time position, ideally based in the Newcastle office but you will be expected to travel in order to meet customers. This will be on average 4-5 customer visits a month and very much dictated by customer needs. Salary is negotiable but subject to experience, there is also a car allowance as part of the package.


Key Roles & Responsibilities


Technical Support and Expertise

  • Customer Knowledge: Have a good understanding of how a histopathology lab works and its constraints and pressures.
  • Product Knowledge: Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the company's IHC products and technologies.
  • Customer Education: Provide technical training and presentations to customers, demonstrating the benefits and applications of the products.
  • Troubleshooting: Assist customers with technical issues, offering solutions to ensure optimal use of products and ultimately helping them to address technical or quality issues in their lab.
  • Complaint handling: Assist (and be assisted by) QC in troubleshooting product enquiries and complaints. The management of the customer through the process and resolution of the complaint.
  • Sales Support
  • Pre-Sales Activities: Work with the sales team to identify customer needs, provide technical information, and assist in developing proposals.
  • Post-Sales Support: Follow up with customers post-purchase to ensure satisfaction and proper product usage, fostering long-term relationships.
  • Sales Training: Train sales representatives and distributors on the technical aspects of the products where needed to improve their effectiveness in the field.
  • Market and Competitor Analysis
  • Market Trends: Stay updated on market trends, competitor products, and industry advancements to provide insights for strategic planning.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Gather and analyse information about competitors' products and strategies to help position the company's offerings effectively.
  • Product Development and Feedback
  • Customer Feedback: Collect and relay customer feedback to the product development team to guide improvements and new product development.
  • Beta Testing: Assist in coordinating testing of new products or updates, providing detailed performance and customer usability reports.
  • Collaboration and Communication
  • Cross-functional coordination: Collaborate with various departments, including R&D, marketing, and regulatory, to align efforts and support the Commercial Director’s strategies.
  • Communication: Act as a liaison between the technical team and the sales/marketing team to ensure accurate and effective communication of technical information.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Support
  • Compliance Knowledge: Ensure that all activities comply with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Documentation: Assist in preparing and maintaining technical documentation required for regulatory submissions and customer compliance, such as those for post-market surveillance.
  • Strategic Planning and Execution
  • Sales Strategy: Contribute to the development of sales strategies and plans to achieve revenue targets.


Minimum Qualifications/requirements:

Education and Skills:

  • Minimum experience of 3 years in the tissue diagnostic market either in cell/histopathology laboratories or in industry in research and development.
  • Familiar with regulatory requirements – UKCAS, ISO15189
  • Ability to quickly develop trust and working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Team player able to communicate effectively in a manner consistent with professional etiquette with all levels within the Company and with the Customer base
  • Strong track record in prioritizing and simultaneously managing multiple projects (activities) in a fast-paced environment for timely completion of projects
  • Ability to achieve goals with minimal to moderate supervision and direction
  • Strong professional and interpersonal skills to effectively operate on a national/international basis (i.e., aptitude for working with diverse groups and appreciation of business)
  • Basic data management skills, i.e. Microsoft Office
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent personal communication skills, open to discussion and constructive criticism
  • Free to travel 


Desirable:

  • MSc or PhD in a related field
  • Familiar with digital pathology and application of image analysis and AI learning
  • Full clean driving license

Terms

  • Salary subject to experience
  • The FTE is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexible working around core hours between 9am and 3pm
  • Holiday allowance is 25 days paid leave per year, plus Bank Holidays. You will need to accrue holiday for the Christmas period where the company closes down
  • Pension is 5% contribution from the employer and up to 5% from the employee
  • Death in service cover
  • There is an annual bonus subject to company and individual performance
  • Potential car allowance.
  • Position starting date is as soon as reasonably possible and subject to successful references
