Position Summary: The Project Manager is responsible for delivering assigned projects within scope, timeframes, and budget, ensuring 100% satisfaction upon completion. This role focuses on on-site safety and quality management and is part of the DCS Delivery Team, which oversees data centre and infrastructure projects across Colt's pan-European and APAC estate. The team prides itself on being a trusted center of excellence in data centre construction and project management, providing value-added support with a proactive and solutions-driven approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of capital expansion or new data centre projects across the Colt estate, primarily in the United Kingdom.
- Oversee daily project operations, coordinating with internal teams, external project managers, and general contractors for efficient delivery.
- Organize and lead project-related meetings and workshops, documenting actions and decisions to maintain alignment across all stakeholders.
- Ensure project and business risks are identified, managed, and mitigated with robust contingency plans.
- Support the delivery of cost-effective and resilient M&E design and installations.
- Monitor project progress, prepare standardized status reports, and address issues to recover costs or schedules when necessary.
- Maintain a Risk and Issues Register and ensure safe construction and site operations throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications and Skills:
• English speaking – Native or fluent
• Strong communication skills
• Academic qualifications in a relevant construction or engineering discipline.
• Professional qualification e.g. Construction related, chartered engineer or similar
• European or Asian languages desirable.
Experience:
- Experience managing construction projects in the data centre industry, with knowledge of UK health and safety regulations and international best practices.
- Strong technical understanding of construction, mechanical and electrical services, BMS systems, and security installations.
- Experience in Structural Steel and concrete construction techniques, complex fit outs, and Design & Build Contract delivery strategies.
- Ability to manage scope, cost, program, quality, and risks to deliver business objectives, employing strategic problem-solving skills.
- Expertise in financial management, program management, and end-to-end project delivery, from initiation to closure.
- Experience with managing local and remote, multi-disciplinary teams, working in live environments, and understanding the procurement of supply and construction contracts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Project, and Word, with strong communication, organizational, and coordination skills.
