This role requires a practical, hands-on individual who can assist with installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment.Key ResponsibilitiesMechanical WorkAssist with the installation, servicing, and repair of industrial machinery, mainly within the combustion industry.Read and work from mechanical drawings and specifications.Help align, fit, and assemble mechanical components using hand and power tools.Carry out basic preventive maintenance tasks as directed.Welding AssistancePerform general welding duties such as MIG, TIG, or stick welding (coded welding an advantage).Join metal parts according to job specifications.Work from welding symbols and drawings.Follow correct welding procedures and quality standards.Pipework SupportAssist with installing, repairing, and maintaining piping systems.Read basic piping diagrams and isometric drawings.Measure and prepare pipe lengths for cutting and fabrication.Help with threading, bending, and assembling pipes.Test piping systems as instructed.Support the installation of valves, fittings, and related components.Gas Safe qualification is desirable.Metal FabricationSupport the fabrication of metal components from raw materials.Measure, cut, and prepare materials for assembly.Build simple structures or components following drawings.Carry out basic quality checks on completed work.Skills & ExperienceExperience in mechanical labouring or any related trade (fabrication, pipe fitting, welding, mechanical fitting).Relevant trade certificates or training are an advantage.3–5 years’ experience in industrial or commercial environments preferred.Ability to read technical drawings.Strong practical, mechanical, and problem-solving skills.Relevant mechanical or trade-related certificates.Welding qualifications (coded preferred).Valid driver’s licence.Forklift licence (advantageous).First-aid certification (preferred).Experience across multiple disciplines (mechanical, welding, pipework, fabrication) is beneficial.Good communication and teamwork abilities.Able to work independently when required.Strong focus on safety and quality.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, lift, and carry materials for extended periods.Capable of working in confined spaces when needed.Safe operation of power tools and equipment.Comfortable working in a variety of environmental conditions.Use of required PPE at all times.Work EnvironmentIndustrial and manufacturing settings.Exposure to noise, heat, and varying weather conditions.May involve shift work, overtime, and periods working away from home.Strict safety protocols must be followed at all times.Travel to different job sites may be required.
