London Area, United Kingdom GradBay Full time

We are on a mission to revolutionize the food industry by supporting founder-led food businesses to rapidly scale their concepts. Our approach combines the best of both worlds:

  • Physical Presence: We operate the iconic Shelter Hall on Brighton’s seafront, an incubator for the UK’s top independent restaurant brands.
  • Virtual Growth: Partnering with established hospitality businesses, we license our brands for use on delivery platforms, providing them with expertise and a platform for scalable success.

Our team brings deep experience in hospitality, food halls, and online delivery, creating a launchpad for the next generation of standout food concepts.

About the Role: Business Development Manager

As a Business Development Manager, you’ll play a critical role in scaling our brands by growing our network of operator “Hosts.” Reporting directly to the Head of Sales, this is an ideal position for someone looking to develop a career in a fast-moving, high-growth environment with huge career progression opportunities.

Your mission? Ensure our food brands scale rapidly through strong partnerships with Hosts while collaborating with a proven and highly regarded management team.

What You’ll Do

  • Identify Opportunities: Prospect and generate leads within the hospitality sector to grow our network of operator Hosts.
  • Pitch & Close Deals: Engage prospective Hosts via cold calls, emails, industry connections, and meetings (virtual or in-person).
  • Build Strong Partnerships: Foster long-term relationships with Hosts to ensure mutual success and scalability.
  • Manage Your Pipeline: Use CRM tools to track and manage your pipeline while providing transparency to the management team.
  • Shape Business Strategy: Be the “eyes and ears” of the market, bringing insights to influence and improve business strategies.
  • Support New Brand Growth: Collaborate with the team to source and recommend exciting new brands to add to the network.
  • Drive Social Impact: Contribute to improving the social and environmental performance of the business.

What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a mix of sales acumen, a passion for food, and the resilience to thrive in a high-energy startup environment.

Required Skills & Attributes:

  • Sales Experience: 0–2 years of sales or commercial experience, ideally within the hospitality sector.
  • Proactive Hustler: A street-smart, hands-on approach to closing deals and getting results.
  • Strategic Mindset: Ability to think big-picture while handling day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Adaptable & Resilient: Willingness to take ownership beyond core responsibilities and thrive in a fast-moving, dynamic setting.
  • Strong Negotiator: Commercially savvy with excellent negotiation skills.
  • Charismatic Leader: Energetic and engaging personality with a deep passion for food.
  • Driven & Hardworking: Motivated to work hard, make decisions quickly, and grow with the business.
  • Loyal & Resilient: A dedicated team player who can weather the challenges of a high-growth startup.

Why Join Us?

  • Career Growth: Be part of a startup that offers significant opportunities for progression as we scale rapidly.
  • Make an Impact: Your work will directly influence the growth of an exciting new wave of food brands.
  • Dynamic Team: Collaborate with a highly experienced, fast-paced team passionate about redefining the food and hospitality industry.
  • Exciting Work Environment: Work at the heart of Brighton’s vibrant food scene, alongside an innovative delivery platform model.
  • Network Expansion: Build relationships with top hospitality brands and entrepreneurs.
