Materials Controller

Ascend Airways operate a small fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft (NG and MAX) in the ACMI market and opened its first operational base at London Gatwick in early 2024. The company is founded on the legacy of Synergy Aviation, a respected UK AOC holder, which has been acquired by Avia Solutions Group, already the world’s largest ACMI provider with over 200 airliners in operation.
The Material Controller will be responsible for the procurement and logistics of aircraft requirements including AOG and ADD demands as well as routine stock purchasing. This will include but not be limited to Rotables, expendables, consumables, and general purchasing. The position will also support logistics based tasks such as goods receipt, stock transfers, despatch, shipping and auditing transactions.
The ideal candidate will have the following experience and attributes:
- Purchasing: 2 years + experience required preferably in aviation environment.
- logistics and shipping experience: 2 years + experience required preferably in aviation environment.
- Knowledge of aircraft components with awareness of component conditions, certification, and airworthiness regulations is an advantage.
- Proactive and able to work independently on tasks to completion.
- Excellent team ethics and communication skills at all levels, and able to use all forms of communication effectively.
- Good computer literacy, with experience of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Experience with Business Central or other aircraft parts platforms is required.
- 145 / ASA100 Inspection experience is an advantage.
- Ability to hold an Full Airside Pass.
- Clean Driving Licence
Responsibilities:
- Purchase inventory for stock and specific aircraft requirements including AOG’s and ADD’s
- Organise shipping and prioritise appropriately as per demand status.
- Ensure Exchanges and PBH supplied parts are closed in line with agreed terms to avoid unnecessary costs.
- Maintain inventory levels and consigned stock at line stations, including consumable and rotable parts and ensure accuracy of stock and warehousing by using computer-based stock control functions such as receipt, dispatch and transfer processes.
- Working closely with accounts to ensure invoices are processed in line with business requirements, and NET terms.
- Work closely with Maintenance Control and Technical services to ensure good information flow at all times.
- Ensuring quality is adhered to following regulatory requirements, and report via established processes any breaches of quality standards to ensure quality is maintained.
- An awareness of lean processes to identify and implement or improve costs and time saving initiatives.
