Environmental Sustainability Advisor


An exciting opportunity for a developing and enthusiastic Environmental Sustainability Advisor to join a civils & infrastructure division of a major European Infrastructure contractor, privately owned delivering innovative and meaningful schemes across the continent.


In this instance, as Environmental Sustainability Advisor you will be working as part of a national vertical sustainability division, and localised project team delivering schemes across the South coast, you will provide technical support and environmental guidance on all aspects of sustainability, environmental management and best-practice. Working closely with regulators to ensure the contractors environmental requirements are compiled with, whilst consulting with local communities and groups of stakeholders who may be impacted by the groups construction activities.


Construction schemes the business delivers provide positive environmental improvements such as harbour defences, coastal protection, refurbishment of major infrastructure assets and work to help stabilise habitats as a result of the forever changing environment.


Key aspects of your Environmental & Sustainability Advisory roles;


• Providing advice and support to operational teams on environmental matters and sustainability delivery.

• Developing and maintaining project environmental management documentation, sustainability delivery and biodiversity net gain.

• Maintaining relationships with regulators, clients and subcontractors ensuring consideration to local ecology, water environment and habitat.

• Ensuring site compliance with environmental legislation and coaching teams in applying controls and mitigations.


Prior Environmental & Sustainability Advisor experience and preferred qualifications;


• Experience and strong knowledge of environment management, sustainable development and related best-practice.

• Experience or knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain.

• Relevant degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Management.

• Practical experience and knowledge of environmental legislation, ecology and archaeology mitigation, and environmental licences.

• Understanding of ecological and archaeological matters, work with the environmental regulator and environmental law.

• Willingness to travel and desire to enjoy working in the great outdoors with flexibility to work away from home.

• Some understanding of civil engineering or a construction projects operating environment is preferred.

• Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook.


Desirable:


• Understanding of the utilities/construction/engineering operating environment is preferred but we do have team members from outside this industry

• A previous role as ECoW (environmental or ecological) would offer a positive fit into the role

• Working knowledge of GIS/ArcGIS/QGIS

• Planning experience


Basic salary circa £40 to £45K p/a plus excellent benefits package including healthcare, generous pension contribution, birthday day off, company team building events, travel & subsistence, car or car allowance.
