Our client is a fund looking for a bright, Investment Valuations Analyst to support the valuation of illiquid equity and debt investments and manage valuation control activities for the investment portfolio:
- Assist in the quarterly and ad-hoc valuation processes for illiquid fixed income and equity investments.
- Draft valuation reports according to the established schedule.
- Develop well-supported and defensible valuation opinions.
- Conduct initial reviews and analyses of business plans and cash flow models.
- Update and refine valuation models.
- Gather financial data from investment managers, challenging where necessary.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of illiquid equity and debt investments.
- Support the intra-quarter valuation roll-forward process.
- Assist with valuation due diligence reviews.
- Communicate key judgments and conclusions to the investment accounting team.
- Document and enhance valuation procedures and controls as needed.
- Contribute to the preparation of committee reports.
- Handle key administrative tasks for the Investment Valuations function.
- Coordinate with financial control and operations teams on key processes and queries (e.g., cut-offs, SPV accounting).
- Collaborate with asset management teams to understand assets and developments, and compile relevant management information.
- Participate in various project work as required.
- Support external valuation advisors in the valuation process.
- Assist external auditors during financial audits.
- Contribute to occasional project work within the broader Finance function.
Technical Competencies:
- Experience in business or equity investment valuations as a primary responsibility in a previous or current role.
- Professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA) with significant exposure to investment appraisal techniques.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Advanced Excel proficiency.
- Experience in dealing with external clients or influencing senior stakeholders within an organization.
