I am supporting an ambitious and forward-thinking Charity who are undergoing a period of significant growth and transformation. To support this journey, they are investing in our people, technology, and infrastructure to better meet the evolving needs of those they serve.


As part of this transformation, they are expanding our Finance and Corporate Services team and are looking for a dynamic and talented Deputy Director of Finance and Governance to join them. This pivotal leadership role will help shape the future of the organisation by driving excellence in financial management, governance, and risk management.


The Role

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Corporate Services, you will:


  • Strategic Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of finance and governance strategies that align with organisational goals. Provide insight and advice to support decision-making and financial sustainability.
  • Financial Oversight: Ensure accurate financial reporting, effective budget management, and compliance with statutory regulations. Lead on financial projects and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Governance & Risk Management: Develop and implement governance frameworks and risk management processes, fostering a culture of accountability and compliance across the organization.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and develop a high-performing finance and governance team, creating an environment of collaboration, professional growth, and continuous improvement.
  • Change Management: Champion and lead initiatives to drive organizational transformation, ensuring the alignment of systems, processes, and policies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of budgets, financial reports, and annual audits.
  • Lead on the development and implementation of risk and governance frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and donor requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance financial literacy and embed effective financial processes.
  • Drive strategic projects, delivering measurable improvements and long-term value.
  • Foster a risk-aware culture and ensure policies and processes are robust, consistent, and up-to-date.


About You

We are looking for a proactive and strategic leader with:

  • Significant experience in senior finance roles, including financial reporting, budgeting, and risk management.
  • A strong track record in governance and compliance, ideally within the not-for-profit sector.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and driving organizational change.


Professional qualifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and experience in the charity sector or similar environments will be essential
