Job Overview:
The Shotton Paper Mill Project seeks an experienced Civil Inspector to oversee and ensure the quality and compliance of civil engineering works within the project. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering and construction, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to upholding safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection & Monitoring:
Conduct regular inspections of civil works including foundations, structures, roads, and utilities to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to project schedules and quality requirements.
Compliance & Documentation:
Verify that all civil engineering activities comply with local building codes, regulations, and environmental laws.
Maintain detailed records of inspections, including photographs, reports, and logs.
Quality Assurance:
Identify and report any deficiencies or deviations from project specifications and recommend corrective actions.
Collaborate with contractors and project managers to resolve issues promptly and efficiently.
Safety Oversight:
Ensure that all construction activities comply with health and safety regulations.
Promote a culture of safety on-site and participate in safety audits and meetings.
Coordination & Communication:
Liaise with project stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, and local authorities, to facilitate smooth project progression.
Provide regular updates to the Project Manager on inspection findings, project status, and any issues requiring attention.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering inspection or a related role.
Experience in large-scale industrial projects is highly desirable.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials.
Proficiency in using inspection tools and software for documentation and reporting.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Certifications:
Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Construction Inspector, Professional Engineer) are a plus.
Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to and from the construction site.
CSCS card
Working Conditions:
The role will primarily be based on-site at the Shotton Paper Mill in North Wales.
Regular exposure to construction environments, including potential adverse weather conditions.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
