Who are we looking for?

We seek an experienced Transport Manager who is skilled in handling comprehensive travel logistics for group tours. This role is crucial for maintaining the seamless execution of transportation arrangements including flights, ferries, and coach bookings essential for our school tours.


Role overview

The Transport Manager will oversee all transportation bookings, including the intricate management of group flights, Channel ferry and train crossings, and UK coach bookings. You will be responsible for everything from negotiating contracts with transport providers to handling the detailed preparations required for group travel.


Ideal candidate should have:

  • direct experience in the school travel sector, preferably having worked with a tour operator, educational institution or a similar organisation
  • a good understanding of pricing dynamics and transportation booking patterns in the group travel industry
  • experience in creating and maintaining robust relationships with suppliers and managing group travel contracts
  • familiarity with school travel regulations and standards would be highly advantageous


Key responsibilities

  • Understanding our routes and sourcing appropriate group travel options
  • Advising sales team of budgets and pricing overviews for quoting purposes
  • Organising and managing group flight bookings, from holding options to entering passenger information, from maintaining accurate name lists to ticketing
  • Coordinating all Channel ferry and train crossings
  • Handling all UK coach bookings, including airport transfers
  • Negotiating and maintaining relationships with transportation providers to secure the best rates and services
  • Monitoring and reporting on transportation trends to improve efficiency
  • Ensuring compliance with all national and international travel regulations and safety standards


Job requirements

  • Proven experience as a Transport Manager, preferably in the school group travel sector
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • A keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus
  • Be a part of the on call team on a rota basis when tours are active
  • Based in the UK
