IDEX is conducting a retained search for an experienced Account Director to lead and manage insurance services for residential Real Estate clients. This pivotal role requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in the insurance sector, capable of driving both client retention and new business development.


We are looking for an Account Director to be based in either London or within the regions. The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in delivering insurance services to real estate residential clients. As Account Director, you will oversee a portfolio of clients, with a focus on retaining existing accounts while actively pursuing new business opportunities. This role demands a strong leader with a proven track record in strategic account management and the ability to develop and convert prospects.


The Role

  • Assume ultimate responsibility for delivering comprehensive insurance services to real estate residential clients.
  • Develop a deep understanding of clients’ businesses, including their risk management needs and strategic goals, providing tailored solutions.
  • Identify and engage key decision-makers within client organisations, nurturing strong, ongoing relationships.
  • Provide technical, industry, and subject matter expertise to clients.
  • Collaborate with specialist technical teams to design and implement optimal solutions for clients.
  • Formulate effective solutions, pricing, and placement strategies that align with clients’ needs and support profitable business growth.
  • Expand the client portfolio by identifying and capitalising on new opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Lead and mentor the supporting service team, contributing to the professional growth of team members.
  • Work closely with Claims Advocates to ensure clients’ needs are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Drive the sales process to secure, retain, and grow profitable new business.
  • Maximize revenue from both new and existing clients by leveraging appropriate placement channels.
  • Oversee and deliver end-to-end client service, ensuring compliance with standardized policies, procedures, and service standards.


Qualifications for Internal Candidates

The Requirements

  • Professional qualifications such as ACII or equivalent are preferred.
  • Extensive experience in the insurance industry, particularly in residential insurance, with a strong background in strategic account management.
  • Commitment to personal and professional growth, with a track record of success in new business sales and client conversion.
  • Strong relationship-building abilities at all levels, with clients, prospects, insurers, and external partners.
  • Proven experience in managing large, complex client programs.
  • High level of integrity and credibility in client representation.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Familiarity with and adherence to processes and systems that support efficient client service.
