Infrastructure Operations Engineer
Hours Per Week - 37.5
We are recruiting for an Infrastructure Operations Engineer to work within our IT department, ensuring the stability and functionality of the infrastructure used to run our business on a day to day basis.
The successful candidate will ensure our third party suppliers provide the most appropriate service, ensure the business remains compliant to maintain our Cyber Essentials certification by managing the patching and updates of our infrastructure, and work with our other IT Service Teams to ensure 3rd line tickets are managed effectively and in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for resolving IT requests that have been escalated from the IT Service Desk team.
  • Maintain and develop infrastructure documentation in line with current processes.
  • Monitor IT infrastructure with proactive management to ensure maximum uptime of group systems.
  • Diagnosing and resolving technical issues with the IT infrastructure.
  • Attending different sites when necessary to resolve on-site infrastructure issues, project rollouts, hardware refreshment and to enhance the profile of IT throughout the business.
  • Work on short to medium term projects, taking ownership and seeing them through to conclusion whilst keeping the IT Operations Manager regularly informed of your progress.
  • Acting as a point of escalation for 1st and 2nd line colleagues.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 3+ years' experience in an IT Service Desk or IT Infrastructure role.
  • Experience with some or all of the following:
  • - Microsoft and Apple operating systems
  • - Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP
  • - Microsoft Exchange Infrastructure
  • - Microsoft Remote Desktop Services Infrastructure
  • - Working within a PCI and FCA regulated business
  • Strong understanding of virtualisation technologies e.g. VMware.
  • Good working knowledge of major networking components, to include networking operating systems, basic configuration and maintenance, Switches, Routers, Firewalls, etc.
