Job Summary:

To assist in the preparation and management of key financial and organisational aspects of development finance, whilst being a key collaboration link with Group Treasury.

This role will suit an individual who has raised debt for real estate projects either within a corporate or advisory role, or lent debt to real estate transactions working at a bank or alternative lender.

The individual will ideally have an understanding of development sufficient to support debt raising on large scale developments.

Experience of any or all of cash management, hedging, secured asset finance, development debt, CMBS and unsecured bonds would be useful.

This role forms part of the potential Treasury succession plan and therefore the right candidate needs to have the appetite to work hard, desire to learn and bandwidth to step up into a bigger role in time.

Main Responsibilities:

This is a wide ranging role, with hands on learning, allowing for significant development and future potential succession into a Director role. As the Associate Director of Debt Finance your key responsibilities include:
  • Debt Strategy and planning – support in the analysis of debt financing strategies to align with the goals of the business, including analysing the impact of market conditions, covenants, pricing and credit ratings.
  • Debt issuance and management – involvement in development debt and wider treasury debt raising and refinancing including management of due diligence, liaison with business teams (such as understanding and modelling financing metrics within debt models) and debt advisors where appropriate.
  • Project lead on co-ordinating multifaceted deals including liaising with valuation, analysts, tax, treasury and commercial teams.
  • Finance management – ensure that post debt raise all aspects of the process are being dealt with including preparation, negotiation and settlement of development transaction financial calculations, flowing through into funds flows and facility drawdowns. Ensure communication across the group to all stakeholders and reporting of appropriate management information.
  • Relationship management – continue to grow and develop a strong lender base across multiple lender types.
  • Support the Director, Development Finance, and the Director, Commercial Finance and Group Treasury, in various aspects of their roles, over time allowing for a full understanding of, and developing the skills required within, these roles

What We Require of You:

  • A post degree qualification, either ACT, ACA, CFA or equivalent is essential.
  • Highly numerate and collaborative – needs to be a good communicator and enjoy working as part of a team.
  • Able to take a commercial view on transactions, and experienced in managing external legal counsel.
  • Ability to work well and remain positive when under pressure. Strong communication skills, clear and proactive with stakeholders to gain the respect and support of differing teams across the business.
  • Analytical Project management skills – able to work well across teams to deliver projects to time.
  • Strong modelling skills, and a commercial view of the inputs and outputs. Technologically savvy and able to think through ways of improving efficiency with the use of technology.
  • An interest in large scale commercial property or infrastructure developments is desirable.
  • The incumbent must be computer literate and highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Windows XP Professional and Microsoft Outlook.
