The Opportunity


As a Wastewater Adoptions Site Inspector/Engineer, you will be the main onsite presence for Leep Utilities and work closely with developers and their groundworks, contractors. Ensuring that they install the adoptable wastewater infrastructure to an adoptable standard. You will spend a significant amount of time out in the field, visiting developments and inspecting, surveying drains and sewers at installation stages and post construction (Pre and post maintenance). You will take responsibility for and ensuring that the pipes are laid in accordance with the approved plans also identifying any defects and ensuring they are reported and then rectified.


Key Responsibilities


  • Accurately report and identify any remediation work required.
  • Assist the Wastewater Adoption Managers with any onsite enquires.
  • Ensure all Wastewater assets are fit for adoption with asset records correctly documented.
  • Assist and advise engineering solutions with the developer when they arise.
  • Ensure a good working relationship with site agents and ground workers.
  • Ensure all Health & Safety rules and policies are adhered to at all times.
  • From time to time assist with water operational site issues. Full training will be provided where needed.
  • Collect and document water assets on the Leep Utilities Asset Database.
  • Ensure sewer networks put forward for adoption are constructed and adopted in accordance with approved drawings, and to Design and Construction Guidance (referred as ‘the Code’).
  • To assist the Wastewater Adoption Managers on all onsite queries.
  • Maintain effective site records electronically for all inspections carried out on site.
  • Attend pre-construction site meeting with the developer and their groundwork contractors.
  • Witness the air test/pressure test of sewer network and pressure pipes and ensure they comply with the requirements set out in ‘the code’.
  • Plan and independently manage own site inspection programme to ensure that all construction sites are monitored to the appropriate standard.
  • Respond to the changing priorities of individual construction sites, resulting in re-programming of workload plan, without recourse to the Wastewater Adoptions manager or line manager.


About You


  • Comprehensive knowledge of all Wastewater assets and the design and installation process is essential.
  • Computer based packages. (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Mobile devices/Applications. (e.g., Outlook, Calendar, Messaging, WhatsApp)
  • Good standard of English and Mathematics.
  • Ability to develop strong customer relationships.
  • Ability to read and understand “as laid” drawings
  • Full driving licence required.
  • Background experience in drainage infrastructure construction and adoptions
  • Ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work productively and collaboratively with developers and contractors to resolve any engineering issues.
  • Knowledge on Waste Water Pump Stations would be an advantage but is not essential.
