The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the behavioural support specialists and psychologists that are part of the Behavioural Support Team across the Adults and Specialists Division.  They will be expected to work in a person centred, strengths based, psychologically informed way, enhancing the quality of life of people supported, promoting personal skill development and reducing/eliminating the use of restrictive practices. The post holder will provide direction and leadership to deliver effective, sustainable and value adding person centred outcomes achieving the divisional strategic objectives of quality, people and commercial outcomes.
“Quality, People and Commercials” are our focus here within the Adults and Specialist Services Division.
The successful candidate will be of Doctoral level in psychology, or equivalent, and hold a Registration with the Health Professions Council, along with a Leadership and Management above Level 5.
Previous post-qualification experience in mental health and/or social care and exercising full clinical responsibility of essential for this role. 
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Quality:
To support people who use our services in achieving their outcomes, in the way that they choose.
Comply with relevant care regulations, standards and legislation under the Health and Social Care Act (2008).
To ensure the delivery of the highest quality, evidence based therapeutic interventions through being responsible and accountable for the day-to-day performance of the behavioural support and associated psychology team. This includes to:
Manage, co-ordinate and respond to all referrals in a timely manner.
Organise and prioritise the delivery of interventions across the team and in conjunction with service needs.
Carry a clinical caseload and undertake clinical work within the services.
Provide expert clinical advice and be able to demonstrate experience of operating at a senior level, within the chosen clinical profession.
Identify suitable clinical and care therapeutic outcome measures where appropriate for the services, taking informed timely decisions based on performance data, to implement interventions to improve service user outcomes.
Identify, implement and share Behavioural Support and Psychological best practice within the service, across other services and with external organisations.
Develop and implement quality assurance mechanisms for the team, including a programme of monitoring, audits and observed practice assessments.
Keep up to date with sector best practice and governance obligations for therapies, ensuring that CareTech’s strategy and practice remain ahead of these.
In conjunction with the wider operational teams you will be accountable for the safeguarding of people we support in line with CareTech’s safeguarding policies, statutory requirements and local authority protocols.
Ensure staff development through supervision, appraisal, coaching and staff induction, leading on identifying training needs and arranging as required.
Have a clear understanding of all aspects of resource management and allocating duties.
Support staff wellbeing and share concerns as appropriate.
Ensure effective staff performance management in line with CareTech’s policies and procedures (recruitment, probation, supervision, learning and development, conduct, attendance etc.) and relevant registered bodies where appropriate
Maintaining communication with all stakeholders within the circle of support (e.g. families, carers, community professionals, Social Workers and commissioners) and participate in all meetings, as required.
Working as part of a team, sharing responsibility fairly and being supportive of others.
Ensure professional standards are met across the team.  Assure conformity of the team with HCPC guidelines and professional bodies, leading, reporting and investigating complaints, incidents and accidents, as per policy and ensuring appropriate referral to Registrant bodies where necessary.
