We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Risk Consultant to join our rapidly growing security engineering team based in our London, Oxford or Manchester offices.

The Hoare Lea security engineering team includes chartered engineers and professionally registered security professionals with an incredible wealth of experience across a broad range of industry sectors. We work on many prestigious built environment projects and programmes throughout the UK both as part of multi-disciplinary Hoare Lea teams and independently.

The role

Leading risk consulting projects and managing day-to-day graduates/consultants within the risk team.nSupporting the risk consultancy lead.nIf not currently holding security clearance, being capable and suitable to gain security clearance through the vetting process. Obtaining and holding security clearance is a requisite of being employed.nDeveloping security threat, vulnerability, and risk assessments for projects.nDeveloping security operational requirements that support the development of technical security designs.nThe development of security strategies and production of reports.nLeading client and stakeholder engagement to establish project security requirements.nThe communication of security strategies to clients and design teams.nSupporting the technical design teams in understanding and maintaining security strategy requirements throughout the technical design.nAttending client meetings and delivering presentations when required.nSet up and manage project administrative processes, including monitoring job resourcing and expenditure (and adjusting as necessary).nProactively participating as part of the Hoare Lea security engineering team in developing approaches to project delivery to support continued team growth.nSupervising and mentoring security consultants.nSupporting the Heads of Profession and others in the production of proposals and bids.nImplementing the Hoare Lea review and governance procedures across all projects.nReporting commercial delivery to the team leader.nAttend regular group meetings and participate in achieving group targets.nSharing your knowledge and experiences with others through events and presentations.nDevelop personal skills and support the development of others.nWork towards developing the subject matter expertise to act as a future sector lead.nDevelop strong relationships with other disciplines and offices.

What we are looking for

Appropriate degree in security or built environment discipline (preferable).nMembership of an industry association such as the RSES or Security Institute or be actively working towards this.nAn in-depth understanding of security risk management principles.nAn understanding of the RIBA plan of work and security design’s place within this.nA knowledge of designing out crime using CPTED and SBD principles.nAn understanding of current initiatives within the industry such as SABREnA good understanding of security policies and procedures.nA detailed understanding of the development of operational requirements.nExperience of project planning.nAbility to work with, manage and develop junior members of the team.nBasic technical understanding of electronic security systems.nExcellent communication skills (written and oral).nAbility to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment with tight deadlines.nAble to achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) before appointment and be willing to undergo National Security Vetting in due course.
