Our work is essential to enable HS2 trains to travel between London and Birmingham as well as continue their journey up to Manchester. Plus you’d join 9,000 people across 72 nationalities working on this exciting section of HS2 across the region.
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Permit Engineer within the Utilities team. This role will be based on site in locations around Kingsbury and Lichfield The northernmost site of the West Midlands stretch of HS2 runs from Water Orton to Lichfield. The sites are mainly rural and will link HS2 to the West Coast Mainline track.
Role description:
Manage and lead a team of Permit Engineers to produce permits to break ground for construction works within the sub-lot and utilities teams.
Ensure permits are produced to a high standard by the Permit Engineers; reviewed and approved to agreed SLA’s to avoid delays and control safety risks to the main works and utilities diversions.
Co-ordinate all required surveys and ensure all trial holes information are recorded on the corporate systems and database. Experienced required:
Experience with managing utilities service avoidance and PAS128.
Experience gained from a Permit Engineer role or Engineer role where you have managed permit procedures including Permits to Break Ground.
Digital Permits on platforms i.e., Site Assist.
Use and knowledge of the latest service avoidance tools and GPR. 
Working knowledge of design drawings and C2 utility drawings.
Construction engineering process experience in Earthworks/Drainage, Pavement, Communications, Structures or Roadworks.
Experience of writing and approving safe system of work, method statements and risk assessments.
SMSTS, EUSR Service Avoidance, CSCS qualification.
Working knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation and Environmental awareness.
Good standard of user with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Please note candidates will need to have a current valid right to work in the UK to be considered for this role.
