Job Purpose
To lead and implement a robust health, safety, and quality management system within a manufacturing environment, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and industry standards. This role will be instrumental in creating a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement, driving operational excellence and minimising risk.
Key Responsibilities
* Review, manage and maintain a comprehensive health, safety, and quality management system aligned with industry best practices and legal requirements.
* Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and quality inspections to identify potential hazards and non-conformances.
* Develop and deliver targeted health, safety, and quality training programs for employees at all levels.
* Investigate accidents, incidents, and quality issues, conducting thorough root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
* Monitor and report on health, safety, and quality performance metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
* Collaborate with operations, engineering, and production teams to identify and implement process improvements.
* Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act.
* Manage quality assurance processes, including supplier quality, product inspection, and testing.
* Lead the organisation in achieving and maintaining relevant quality certifications.
* Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and customers.
* Promote a positive health, safety, and quality culture throughout the organisation.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
* Proven experience in a health, safety, and quality leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
* Relevant qualifications in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma) and quality management (e.g., ISO 9001).
* Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and manufacturing industry standards.
* Experience in implementing and maintaining quality management systems in a manufacturing context.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to influence and engage people at all levels of the organisation.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience in the manufacturing sector.
* Membership of professional health and safety and/or quality bodies.
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
