Our client is a local authority and currently they are seeking a qualified accountant for an interim assignment. The role will be part home, part office based and will require occasional travel to satellite offices.
A brief of the standard duties of the role is below, please note this is not exhaustive.
Duties:
* Support the Strategic Finance Business Partner in the Accountancy function
* Manage the closedown of the Council’s accounts and the production of the Statement of Accounts
* Ensure financial governance and controls are effectively maintained
* Support capital programme reporting, monitoring, and technical support
* Provide financial support and advice to Executive Directors, Assistant Directors, and Service Managers
* Enhance financial services' professionalism and customer focus
* Manage the Finance team, ensuring high-quality service and advice
* Contribute to the overall strategic and operational management of Financial Services
* Manage, motivate, and develop the Finance team to achieve objectives and enhance performance and morale
* Implement the Council’s Performance Appraisal and Development Programme
* Ensure compliance with financial statutory obligations and the Council’s Financial Procedure Rules and Financial Code
* Achieve Customer Satisfaction levels to support the Accountancy business plan
* Ensure timely financial controls and support Balance Sheet Monitoring and reporting.
* Ensure accurate financial performance reporting and budget control
* Ensure effective internal financial controls and financial governance
