JOB SUMMARY

Cadmus (formerly known as Nathan Associates) is seeking a Business Development Manager to join our business development team in the UK office. S/he will be responsible for leading capture efforts for upcoming opportunities, serving as proposal manager for live bids, and managing a pipeline of business opportunities with bilateral and multilateral clients such as the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the World Bank and the European Union.


The Business Development Manager will guide capture/proposal teams through business development processes and procedures in accordance with the company’s established processes and best practices. S/he will designate and coordinate tasks to meet applicable deadlines, collaborate effectively with and manage internal and external subject matter experts, and represent the company to external stakeholders, including clients and partners. S/he will report to the Head of Business Development.


RESPONSIBILITIES

S/he will be responsible for:

  • Supporting strategic analysis of business development opportunities through coordination of research on issues, countries, clients, partners and competitors and market intelligence gathering;
  • Supporting the development of new and maintenance of client partnerships;
  • Tracking and assessing new project opportunities and proactively contributing to marketing efforts to build a pipeline of high quality business opportunities;
  • Independently leading, managing and/or supporting the preparation of technical and commercial bid proposals in all of Cadmus’ practice areas;
  • Identifying suitable partners and consultants for bids, undertaking negotiations and finalising contracting arrangements;
  • Undertaking scoping missions to target countries, and remote intel gathering on relevant in-country information for specific bids and to expand our knowledge base;
  • Researching costs and preparing detailed budgets and commercial tenders; and Building a network of consultants to expand our pool of strategically important technical skills and relevant operational areas.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • In depth knowledge of procurement and bidding processes for bilateral and multilateral donors, in particular the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
  • Proven ability to win bilateral and multilateral donor contracts;
  • Demonstrable analytical and critical thinking skills – particularly as they relate to assembling disparate pieces of knowledge and careful assumptions to form a clear picture of a client’s intentions before a solicitation is released;
  • Experience communicating and networking with clients and key partners;
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and process information in support of changing activities on a self-directed basis and to support and facilitate others to meet proposal deadlines;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Flexibility to travel and work across different continents;
  • Outstanding English written and oral communication skills;
  • Excellent analytical and organisational skills;
  • Excellent skills in MS Word and Excel for budget preparation and presentation and formatting of proposals to efficiently and effectively to respond to a tender.
  • Ability to work independently and lead multicultural teams to achieve results; and
  • The right to live and work in UK.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in relevant field such as Economics, Trade, Business, International Development or other relevant field;
  • 6+ years of relevant professional experience, preferably with donor-funded projects in developing countries;
  • Minimum three years of experience managing large, complex proposals in response to invitations to tender issued by bilateral and multilateral donors;
