ASD Learning Support Assistant
Empowering Learning are looking for a Teaching Assistants to support in a Pupil Referral Unit in the Walsall area. The candidate will be supporting with a wide range of special educational needs, including those with: Autism, SEMH, Communication and Interaction needs in line with their primary diagnosis.
Experience working in a school setting is not essential, just a natural affinity with children and a willingness to learn and adapt.
The ideal candidate will
Have experience working with young people.
Be highly organised with excellent communication skills.
Have a desire to work with, inspire and support children.
Have strong developed behaviour management skills and techniques.
Have experience supporting children with additional needs.
Have knowledge of Makaton, Team Teach or Positive Behaviour Reinforcement Strategies. (Desirable but not essential)Main Role Responsibilities
Supporting the Class Teacher and other support staff in the day to day running of the class.
Supporting children during lesson and school activities.
Managing difficult behaviours.
Delivering 1:1 or small group activities and interventions.
