Location: Skipton, North Yorkshire Reports To: Partnership and Engagement Manager & Trustees Job Type: Part-time Salary: Competitive (3 days) About Us The Principle Trust Children’s Charity provides free respite breaks for children across Yorkshire facing adverse childhood experiences such as mental health challenges, trauma, abuse, poverty, serious illness and disabilities. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Community Engagement Coordinator to join our dynamic team, helping us grow our impact and secure vital funding through grants and community partnerships. Job Summary The role will be responsible for supporting the charity’s efforts to secure engagement and funding from a diverse range of sources - including charitable trusts, grant-making bodies, philanthropists, Rotary Clubs, Round Tables, Freemasons’ Lodges, community groups, and local supermarket charity schemes. This role involves identifying potential engagement and funding opportunities, writing and managing applications, coordinating submissions, and maintaining strong relationships with funders and community partners. The postholder will work closely with the Treasurer, Trustees, and Holiday Homes team to ensure that all fundraising activities align with the charity’s mission and objectives. Key Responsibilities Engagement, Research and Identification Research and identify relevant engagement and funding opportunities from foundations, government programs, and private sector donors (including philanthropists and corporate giving programmes). Actively explore community-based funding routes such as local supermarket charity schemes (e.g. Tesco Community Grants, Asda Foundation, Co-op Local Causes, Morrisons Foundation, etc.). Build and maintain relationships with local civic and service organizations (e.g. Rotary Clubs, Round Tables, Lions Clubs, Freemasons’ Lodges, Inner Wheel, Soroptimists). Maintain and expand the charity’s internal funding database, tracking deadlines, eligibility, and funding criteria. Stay informed on funding trends, regional initiatives, and community partnership opportunities. Grant Application Writing Prepare clear, compelling, and well-structured applications tailored to each funder’s priorities. Collaborate with internal teams (finance, operations, holiday homes) to gather relevant data and evidence. Develop creative proposals for community-based initiatives or small grants offered by local organisations and supermarkets. Grant & Donation Management Coordinate the preparation, submission, and follow-up of all applications, ensuring deadlines are met. Track outcomes, maintain accurate records, and log communications with all funders. Manage small community donations and match-funding opportunities in coordination with the Treasurer. Reporting and Compliance Ensure that all grants and donations are properly monitored, reported, and compliant with funder requirements. Assist in producing financial and narrative reports to demonstrate impact and accountability. Relationship Building & Community Engagement Build and nurture relationships with grant officers, supermarket community champions, and local business CSR teams. Represent the charity at community and Rotary events, cheque presentations, and networking opportunities. Support Trustees in engaging with civic organisations and community groups to raise awareness and encourage recurring support. Coordinate thank-you communications and recognition for funders and community donors. Collaboration & Strategy Work closely with the Treasurer and Trustees to develop and refine fundraising strategies. Contribute to fundraising materials (presentations, reports, social posts, or press releases) that highlight the charity’s impact. Provide regular updates on funding progress at team and trustee meetings. Experience & Skills Experience in fundraising, grant writing, or community partnership development, ideally within the charity or non-profit sector. Strong written communication and persuasive proposal writing abilities. Proven ability to research, identify, and secure funding opportunities. Confident in building and maintaining relationships with funders, community groups, and corporate partners. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a small, passionate team. Working Conditions Hours: 8:30am - 5pm, 3 days per week (3 office days) Travel: Occasional travel to community events, supermarkets, and donor meetings. Physical Requirements: None specified.
