This position will be predominantly based in our office on Lexington Street, London. Our hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm.

Key Responsibilities

1) Research & Concept Development:

  • Develop compelling documentary concepts and narratives that resonate with audiences.
  • Collaborate with curators, artists, and art historians to ensure accuracy and depth.

2) Pre-production:

  • Plan shoots, including location scouting, securing permissions at museums, galleries, or artist studios.
  • Create detailed scripts and shot lists tailored to each project.
  • Assemble and manage a production team, including camera operators and sound technicians.

3) Production:

  • Direct interviews with artists, curators, and subject-matter experts, capturing authentic and engaging stories.
  • Film art installations, exhibitions, and studio environments with a keen eye for detail.
  • Use high-quality cameras, lighting, and sound equipment to capture visually stunning and clear footage.

4) Post-production:

  • Edit documentary footage into compelling stories, incorporating archival materials, interviews, and B-roll seamlessly.
  • Add music, voiceovers, and sound design to enhance the narrative.
  • Collaborate with motion graphic designers for titles, animations, and credits where necessary.

5) Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with stakeholders, including producers, art institutions, and sponsors, to align creative vision.
  • Integrate feedback from stakeholders into the project while maintaining artistic integrity.

6) Content Delivery:

  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality, polished documentaries in the required formats for screenings, festivals, or online platforms.
  • Optimize content for distribution on streaming platforms, broadcast, and social media.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Film Production, Art History, Media Studies, or related field (preferred but not mandatory with equivalent experience).
  • Experience in documentary filmmaking, with a portfolio of completed works, ideally including art-focused projects.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality, visually stunning video content.
  • Technical proficiency and expertise in using professional cameras, lighting, and audio equipment.
  • Advanced skills in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro).
  • Knowledge of motion graphics, archival footage integration, and sound design is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of art history, contemporary art, and cultural storytelling.
  • Ability to translate complex art concepts into engaging and accessible narratives.
  • Creative vision and exceptional storytelling skills with a talent for visually representing the essence of art.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills to manage schedules, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, particularly when working with artists and institutions.

Additional Requirements:

  • Flexibility to travel for on-location shoots, including internationally if necessary.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings or weekends, depending on project needs.
  • Familiarity with working in gallery, museum, or studio environments is a plus.
