This role provides a fantastic opportunity for you to build key foundations and shape the narrative, that will provide AXA the exposure and scope required for growth.

It's an exciting time to join the AXA Commercial team in Leeds and Newcastle, as we undergo significant growth across our branches to support the overall strategic business plan. We're currently looking to strengthen the team and bring to market the opportunity to join us a Property and Casualty (P&C) New Business Underwriter. The role encompasses many opportunities to contribute to the development and success of the branch account, not just from a growth and profitability perspective but driving service excellence to our customers.

What you'll be doing:

Deliver on team targets through profitable underwriting of our products for P&C New Business, whilst developing key relationships and credibility with brokers and customers.
Be proactive, outgoing, and confident in dealing with our strategic partners, maximising business through the delivery of exceptional customer service.
Underwrite our products for customers profitably, accurately, consistently using the full range of appetite and tools available.
Contribute to meetings with brokers to secure clients.
Monitor the overall performance of the book you're responsible for and ensuring remedial action is taken to correct any performance issues.

Cert CII qualification with DIP CII desirable.
High level of technical underwriting expertise.
Commercial awareness, and expert negotiation skills.
Ability to build strong broker relationships.
Sound knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements for insurance.
Developed analytical skills with proven experience of account monitoring and action planning.
Pragmatic and a confident decision maker.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.

This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
