We are delighted to be working alongside an established, yet ambitious MGA who have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Underwriter at their office in Newcastle.

Backed by a large group, they are investing heavily in this office and looking to add someone to the team to support a large panel of northern based brokers with renewals and new business for Property Owners, CAR, Motor Fleet & Combined risks.

**Main Duties**:

- Preparing renewals, issuing and processing documentation, handling midterm adjustments and filtering new enquiries
- Assisting with servicing accounts for renewal business
- Fostering positive working relationships with Brokers and providing a professional and prompt service
- Working closely with Senior Underwriters and assisting with any general administration
- Remaining compliant and escalating issues as appropriate
- Utilising binders with 'A’ rated insurers
- Working to Underwriting licences to increase authority levels

**Key Experience**:

- Good understanding and knowledge of commercial insurance, either with an insurer, MGA or broker
- Knowledge and experience of underwriting insurance risks is desirable, however training will be provided
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory practices and legislations in the industry
- Experience with Property Owners, Motor Fleet & Combined risks is essential
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good time management skills to meet deadlines
- Good communications and negotiation skills
- Certificate in insurance (Cert CII) or working towards

On offer is a basic salary up to £30k (negotiable), along with 25 days holiday, pension, private medical, support for professional qualifications, genuine career progression, free on-site parking at their office in Newcastle, and the option to work from home a few days a week.
