The role
This is a 6 Month FTC Opportunity and will cover stock in both the Midlands and the East of England, so travel will be required.
The purpose of this role is to lead the effective delivery of 4-6 high value remediation projects including investigation, diagnosis and management of works undertaken by contracting partners. To explore opportunities to recover associated costs from developers and/or contractors responsible for failures/defects or recoverable under warranties and guarantees from product manufacturers and/or insurers. To ensure the timely response to any referrals including the collection of evidence, Expert Witness opinion, recommendations, and mitigation.
This role is part of Customer & Communities where you'll help us to lead the way keeping our promise to more than 100,000 customers.
What you'll achieve
Manage all technical, operational, and commercial aspects of the delivery of the designated projects including diagnosis, specification, liability investigation, administration, and management of third party legal and insurance claims
Appoint and manage designers necessary for remediation solutions including fire engineers, cladding/external wall system experts, structural engineers, mechanical and electrical services engineers
Prepare technical evidence relevant to any legal actions under the direction of Orbit’s legal representatives including the appointment and management of Expert Witnesses necessary to support any actions under adjudication or litigation
Carry out formal project closure reports to crystallise lessons learnt and to ensure a continuous improvement approach to project delivery
Manage the supply chain and ensure that projects are adequately resourced to enable all works to be conducted safely, economically and to programme, delivering high levels of quality. Ensure that project works are delivered within the constraints of CDM requirements and that project specific ‘construction phase plans’ are reviewed and updated as projects progress
What you'll bring
Essential skills
Educated to degree level in a property related subject or relevant professional qualification in Quantity or Building Surveying
Experience of commensurate large scale infrastructure projects and schemes of work
Comprehensive knowledge and experience of general professional disciplines including programming, quantity surveying, contract management and design
Comprehensive practical construction knowledge of plant and equipment, products, and different ways of working to ensure appropriate solutions are adopted for tasks
Experience in operationally leading/supervising a team of professionals in delivering housebuilding, social housing or multiple occupancy housing projects
Experience of delivering on time and to budget projects in excess of £15 million
Experience of leading and delivering a programme of work in a way that achieves high levels of Customer satisfaction
